It’s been a while

Yes, yes, yes. It’s been quite a while since I last posted. It may be a little longer before I post anything of interest. However, I do still know my site login which is good.  I probably should also run some updates. More to come, sooner or later.

How to save $1,000

Alley Garbage - by Law, originally uploaded by swanksalot.

While shopping for some thank you cards at a great little shop (that will remain nameless), a garbage man came in.

He asks the woman behind the counter “Are those your boxes out front?” She responds that they are. He then says that she shouldn’t pile them up on the street like that because she could get fined by the City for illegal dumping.

She explains that because of the street work she can’t put them out the way she normally does. He says no problem, “just wanted to warn you so that you don’t get a $1,000 fine.” He proceeds to tell her that he comes by everyday and he’ll help her bring them out. Or, if she really wants to leave them out on the curb, just make sure to cut the addresses off of the boxes so that if the City does see them, they won’t know whose they are.

UNKNOWN

Inmate Caller ID, originally uploaded by Brian Teutsch.

I just got a call from Diane offering great rates on steam cleaning my carpets.

“Press 1″ for more info.

“How may I help you?”

“May I ask who’s calling?”

I guess “Diane” knows that it’s a Federal crime to use an autodialer to cold call people, especially those people on the Do Not Call Registry. I’d file a complaint, but the call was from “unknown.”

Happy New Year

New Year’s Sunset, originally uploaded by treffdawg.

Hope everyone has an excellent evening ringing in the New Year. For me it’s going to be a relaxing night of movies, chili and mac ‘n cheese.

Stupid annoying II

Spin it, originally uploaded by treffdawg.

Previously I wrote about how the price of an item on Amazon went up $32 in a few hours. The item was a turntable my brother and I were buying for my parents. So far it’s working great, and I thought maybe I’d by myself one. I figured I’d check Amazon again, just to see. Well it’s dropped back down to it’s original price. Track me much Amazon?

First it was taking forever to ship items, now this. Maybe it’s time to try another online store.

Flare Truck

Flare Truck, originally uploaded by treffdawg.

In all the years I’ve driven through the Caldecott Tunnel, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the flare truck in action. Luckily there wasn’t much traffic driving back to the City. With that said, I’m glad I made it to the tunnel before two became one. Merging with weekend drivers is always horrible. Wouldn’t a fourth bore be nice?

Beer & loathing

Strange ATM, originally uploaded by treffdawg.

Okay, there really wasn’t much loathing, unless you define loathing as food. After a short walk down to the Lower Haight (and passing random ATM), T-Bone and I enjoyed and afternoon of beer, sausage, and then some bbq. (more…)

I don’t think so

Google’s great. Google’s all knowing, or at least most of the time.

When using Google maps to get directions to my apartment, it suggests that you take a left onto Market after exiting 101 North. While that’s probably the most direct route to my house, it’s definitely not the most legal. So friends, please take note, the real best route is Octavia to Fell. Humans 1, Google well I guess googl, or some other huge number.

How much for?

Doggie in the window, originally uploaded by treffdawg.

As most of you know, I’m not much of an animal person. With that said, even I can’t help but find this little guy cute. Almost every time I walk past there he (or she) sits in the window watching what’s going on.

This was the view out of my kitchen window today. Not too bad.
